The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income soon-to-be or new mothers and their children. As a cost-containment measure for the WIC program, private brands are utilized where possible. Each state maintains a list of items that have been approved at the state level for WIC participation. AWG Brands participates in 27 state WIC programs managing more than 550 product formulas to meet state WIC requirements.
