At DSG we find ways to create a “fluent experience.”  Many things are happening around you to trigger your impulses, but you don’t notice it’s happening.  An example would be movement with the tools of lighting.  Something catches your eye, so you go look.  You smell something baking and your nose leads you to the source.  You recognize a logo from one of your favorite local restaurants and seek out their salsa.  Something interesting to look at, where you stop, pause, look, and, most importantly,  remember.   We design with intent to create a personal connection for your customer within your grocery store.  

Lighting is another critical factor that can significantly impact customers’ perception of your store. Appropriate lighting can highlight products, create a welcoming atmosphere, and enhance the overall shopping experience. If you haven’t already, you should consider upgrading your lighting to energy-efficient and brighter LED lights, which can create a more vibrant and livelier atmosphere. Plus, you will save money on energy use. 

Lighting can also be used to influence customers’ purchasing behavior. For example, strategic lighting can be used to highlight specific products or displays, drawing customers’ attention to them and increasing the likelihood of purchases. Lighting can also be used to create an ambiance that complements different product categories, such as soft lighting for bakery items or bright lighting for fresh produce. 

Making changes can be a difficult decision, but what if that one decision to update your store décor and lighting is the thing that gets your customers talking? Over the dinner table or a text, they talk about what happened to them today at the grocery store.  What they saw, tasted, or found.  In their own way, they get the word out to visit your grocery store, either online or in person.
