Grow Your Online Shopping Basket Size

Are you offering an online shopping experience that makes the most of each online transaction? 

If there was ever a time when you should make the most of each customer’s online shopping experience, now is the time. Digital grocery sales were $128 million in 2022 and are expected to be more than $146 billion in 2023.  Make sure you get your share of those dollars! Digital grocery is not a fad—it’s here to stay! Growing your online shopping basket size goes hand in hand with your strategies to increase basket sizes in-store. From making sure your customers’ basic online shopping needs are met to giving them the newest widget, here are some suggestions to grow those shopping baskets. 

Give them the basics. Your ecommerce website should offer a great extension of a smooth in-store shopping experience.  Your branded website should include all in-store SKUs with attractive, clear pictures, product descriptions, and accurate pricing.  Keep shoppers up to date on your weekly circular ad, specials, and holiday offerings. 

Include personal touches. Online merchandising can encourage shoppers to construct a pizza with all the toppings of their choice, create a box of donuts to include their favorite flavors, or build a sub sandwich just like they would if your deli team member was standing right in front of them.  

Offer grocery delivery. The convenience of a delivery option is a must.  You can offer delivery through AWG’s partnership with DoorDash or Instacart.  White label, “Last Mile” delivery can be accomplished behind the scenes on your branded website. You could also be a part of the online Marketplace for incremental online orders. 

Develop a mobile app.  Shoppers will use it to not only place their online shopping orders, but they will also be able to browse the weekly circular, check their rewards, points, available coupons and plan their shopping list. 

Build your customer base with  a loyalty program digital coupons.  Shoppers like to earn points, get rewarded, and take advantage of specials.
