Specialty Foods Holiday Must-Haves

-

The holidays are all about family, friends, and, of course, food! When you are laying out your endcaps and promotions, do not forget to add specialty food items into your item variety. When people are planning holiday parties, they are looking to add some pizazz and elegance to their tables with the latest trends and recipes. Utilizing cross merchandising with specialty foods to add margin and increase your customers’ basket size on each trip. Have fun and create some excitement in those categories that are normally at very low margins.

Here are some ways to include specialty foods in your store displays.

  • Create your own endcap of holiday essentials based on your customers’ needs.
  • Create a holiday baking endcap that includes general merchandise pans and decorations.
  • Tie in key specialty food and general merchandise items with your mainstream grocery endcaps to increase your basket size. Give your customers a choice to upgrade and add to their menu. For example, add Pacific broths and soups to the Campbell’s soup endcap.
  • Publish your favorite recipes via social media and build your endcaps. Better yet, create an Employee Recipe of the Month to feature in-store and online.
  • Get creative with other departments in the store. For example, you can fill bunkers with cheese, sausage, and produce for the following:
  • Entertaining items
  • Charcuterie boards
  • Dip recipe ingredients
