During the COVID-19 crisis, customers have increasingly flocked to more touchless or low-touch aspects of shopping to avoid as much potential person-to-person contact as possible. The AWG Member Support team had already been working with a number of programs and has only ramped up its activity since the pandemic started.
One of the most exciting new ways for low-touch shopping is through scan and go technology. For the consumer, the experience is fairly easy. The shopper uses an app designed for the store and simply scans the UPC of each product as they shop and put it in their cart. Once they are done with their shopping, they get to skip the normal checkout line and their purchases are quickly verified and the customer is on their way. Retailers have found once customers use the scan and go technology, they are very likely to repeat using the technology.
Retailers also like the technology because it gives a complete set of data and allows retailers to market to shoppers as they walk the aisles of their store – which can increase engagement and basket size. Those interested should contact Andy Hamilton at [email protected] or (913) 288-1855.
