Save-A-Label™ Builds Sustainable Communities

-

Best Choice® products first hit shelves in 1985. Two years later, the Save-A-Label™ program was introduced. This program was initially developed as a short-term promotion to help local grocers support their communities. However, it was so popular that it became a permanent program. Today, Save-A-Label™ not only helps local grocers support their communities, but also allows them to be the cornerstone of a sustainable community.

What is a sustainable community? It’s where the needs of everyone in the community are met, and community members feel safe, healthy, and happy. This is where grocers and the Save-A-Label™ program become important partners. By promoting the program in stores, member retailers can connect customers, local non-profit organizations, and schools to benefit from the purchase of Best Choice® Family of Brands products.

Every year, the Save-A-Label™ program supports hundreds of schools and non-profit organizations all over the country. Members of these non-profits work within their communities, helping everyone from students to seniors and anyone in between. For every 1,000 Best Choice® Family of Brands labels saved, the organizations receive $30 from AWG. The money is then used by the non-profits to support members of their communities. Just by being an active part of the program, participating organizations receive a bonus $30 on their first label submission of each calendar year.

In Springdale, Arkansas, the Saint Raphael Women’s Council uses its labels to present four or five $1,000 scholarships to local graduating high school seniors. In York, Nebraska, the St. Joseph Catholic School uses its funds to support teachers, staff, and students throughout the year with field trips, school supplies, and meals. In Philo, Ohio, the Philo Lutheran Church uses its labels to run the local free summer lunch program, and purchase school supplies and food for the local food pantry. In Fairview, Oklahoma, the Fellowship Home Independent Living uses its funds to help its residents host a chili dinner for the community and create Easter eggs for the city-wide egg hunt each year.

The Save-A-Label™ program was recently recognized with a 2022 Impact Award for its commitment to community service and its local impact. Read more about the award here: https://storebrands.com/impact-awards-2022-associated-wholesale-grocers-community-servicelocal-impact

Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is an ancient Mexican holiday that dates back more than 3,000 years. It celebrates the lives of deceased loved ones and welcomes their souls for a brief reunion. Altars or memorials are often created with photos, favorite foods, candies, drinks, and candles to honor those who have passed away.
