Like clockwork, every five years we need to refresh or remodel our stores. If we don’t reinvest in our stores, we become tired, boring, and irrelevant to our customers. Our customers deserve and expect us to reinvest in them.

Be relentless in efforts to keep your stores relevant. Always look to find the best equipment, the best coolers, freezers, deli cases, floor coverings, technology, and yes, the best people. Your passion should be your people… then the lighting. The product is the show: so find the best lighting solutions to show off what you do best. Your fresh departments, produce, meat, bakery, deli, and prepared foods will be glad you did. Visit the best-in-class retailers for ideas and keep pushing the envelope. Your customers deserve the best!

Never allow even one light to be out whether inside or outside of your stores. Fix it immediately, or you will be sending the message to your customers that you don’t care about the details. That fix-it-now mentality includes the parking lot with bright lighting for evening shoppers, no potholes, brightly painted curbs, and parking stalls. It’s an attitude. Never be satisfied and always look for the next best thing for your customers.

We have many AWG owners across the country that follow the five-year remodel plan, and they would all tell you it works. So if you have not remodeled or refreshed your stores in the past 5-7 years, it might be time to invest in your future.
