Using Deli Space Differently

-

You have an outstanding service that blows Aldi, Dollar General, and others out of the water, but do you have the products to make your store the place they want to shop? One hurdle retailers face is they feel they are limited in space to add additional equipment necessary to increase their value-added offerings.

In the pictures, you will see a typical deli. By reducing the deli case by 4 feet and replacing it with an 8-foot service deli case with additional cold self-service below, you can maintain selling power while giving you the ability to offer grab-and-go deli products. With the 4four feet gained, you can then install a sandwich prep station with cold self-service below that can serve as a place for made-to-order sandwiches as well as pre-made grab-and-go sandwiches.

In the photos seen, we show a store where we were able to rearrange the equipment under the ventilation hood and gain enough room for an electric smoker. The addition of a smoker now allows for a variety of additional smoked meat products that you can sell hot or pack cold to qualify for EBT.

All of these additional value-added offerings are well beyond anything some of your key value channel retailers are able to do, and you are able to do it with the current space you have. If you are wanting to achieve similar results, please do not hesitate to call your division Store Engineering specialist who is more than qualified to get you on your way to competing with adding value to your offerings.

Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is an ancient Mexican holiday that dates back more than 3,000 years. It celebrates the lives of deceased loved ones and welcomes their souls for a brief reunion. Altars or memorials are often created with photos, favorite foods, candies, drinks, and candles to honor those who have passed away.
